Today's Prayer

Prayer

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. — Philippians 4:6

Prayer, like breathing, is life-essential. When we read the Scriptures, aided by the Holy Spirit, we breathe in. When we pray, we exhale. We breathe in the word of God and breathe out our prayers - words inspired from what we've read, born out of the insight God has given us. We are taught by God.

Today's Prayer

December 31st

Lord Jesus, you are supreme!

Head over all things, king of kings, given to us, your people, your church. At your feet the demons shudder. In you all things hold together. Concept and material, idea and created objects, circumstance and person. You are Lord over all.

Let these truths settle deeply and safely in our hearts, and may they bring us constant consolation. You are our comfort - what a gift you are!

Through these fiery trials we come forth as refined gold, for all you do is out of the goodness of your heart; and we are your children. Thank you for bringing us in, and purchasing us, freeing us, by your blood. We rejoice, we delight in your amazing grace!

Lord, I pray that you would cause the nations to hope in you. Turn the discouraged soul towards you. Satisfy the thirsty with streams of your love. Bring the hungry to feast at the table of your goodness and provision. Lord, would that you would return the lost to yourself?

Our hope is in you; let us shine with that hope in joy. Lift our downcast souls and keep us from that vile enemy of fleshly lust. Oh Lord, that we would hunger for you. Let us receive that we may give.

Lord, bring the nations to praise and honor you, the one true God. Father, save, call, glorify, and free the lost of this world.

In Jesus name, amen.

December 29th

Lord Jesus, the demons shudder before you and cry out knowing who you are and what fate awaits them. For you are head over all things, given to us, your body, the church. Greater are you in us than the liar who is in the world. What have we to fear? Nothing! For God is by our side, Emmanuel, eternal God, everlasting Father, Comforter, mighty God! We embrace the light of this truth.

Lord, keep us from fear, for fear is a liar. Our enemy speaks lies to the sons of men, but in your presence, Jesus, all lies disperse like the controlling delusions of an abusive husband. Let us walk in your authority today, and may the falsities of the defeated foe fall to the ground as the shallow and weak structures they truly are.

Be exalted oh Lord!

December 28th

Father, thank you for your Word, for the Scriptures.

You speak, you instruct, you encourage. Let us hide your word in our hearts. Holy Spirit, give us understanding and be the light in our hearts. Let our minds be engaged and not distracted. Turn on the light of understanding, Lord!

As we walk, as the day dirties our feet, as we face responsibility, challenges, and stresses, place us back to our center – your anchoring words. And let us encourage one another daily with these words. Let your word, the word of the Christ Jesus, fill our lives, dwelling as its foremost occupant. Lord, there is nothing greater than your presence, and you are our greatest treasure!

December 27th

Lord, let us not miss the moments of your appearance; keep us from being unaware of your touch. May we always be alert to your presence and moving in our lives and glorify you as Lord of all.

In the small and in the great you have appeared. There have been times we’ve been unaware, but now we acknowledge you in all our paths. Make straight our ways! Bring down our pride and lift our souls out of despair.

Your deep calls to our deep. Let us hear the sound of your voice, your nearness, and cling tightly to your daily blessings, Jesus, our life!
