November 30th
You are my helper; you are with me.
Whom shall I fear? What man should evoke worry in my heart when you are my God in whom I trust? You are faithful. What can mere man do to me?
You are my guide, my shepherd, my ever-present help in times of need. You coordinate the steps of our lives beautifully. Lord, my heart is filled with gratitude to you who loves me so fully, a man so undeserving.
May my heart always look to you and trust and remember. May I never wander from thoughts of your faithfulness. You will bring me safely home, to my new earthly home and finally and most greatly, to my eternal home in your joyous presence.
November 29th
Lord, all revelation comes from you and the power to be free in truth comes from you. I approach your throne of grace for mercy and grace to help in my time of need. You are my constant companion, my help in times of trouble, ever present.
I pray for mercy to see, to repent, to live in your grace and power, and grace to know you! Remove from this heart every stubborn tie to my will and this world and, as the Great Rescuer, deliver me, a helpless sparrow, from the snare of the fowler.
You are my only hope. Fill my life with your grace.
November 28th
Our life, that true, abundant life, is hidden, kept safe from all harm, with you Jesus. None shall steal it from us, for you are our life and none can steal us from you or you from us. Thank you for your sure promises, Lord. May we endure in them and by your strength and might, hold tightly to the Master’s hand.
Let this be our foundation for living: that we are kept by you and that you are our portion and we are your people. This is your desire, to be our God and have us as your people – as it has always been.
So, strengthen us to live out of that truth today, every day, even to the very end.
Amen.
November 27th
Strengthen us, Lord, according to your glorious might!
Let us be rooted. Build us up and establish us. Guard us in the word of truth, the gospel, and keep us safe in the faith as we are correctly taught. Our lives are in your hands, not dependent on our strengths, but on your faithfulness with our weaknesses yielded to you.
After we have suffered for a little while, you yourself will strengthen, perfect, confirm, and establish us. We wait on you, Lord, and our hope is in you and in your great love for us.
Amen!
November 26th
Lord, I am grateful.
My memory is filled with the wonders of your wondrous doings. In faithfulness you sow into my soul the tender reminders of your merciful workings. Thank you for your Spirit, who works in ways I cannot tell – in mysterious ways indeed!
He is the Faithful Comforter and minister of your truth. Yes, he is the Spirit of truth who pursues my often-wandering mind and fills me again with memories of your working in my life. Glory to you Jesus!
How wonderful are your ways, beyond searching, yet revealed to us your children. I love you Lord, with all my heart, for you have heard my prayers, the prayers of my heart, and filled my inner desires with you, my portion.
November 25th
Each day is a gift from you, my Father.
Every good and perfect gift comes from you and we are completely satisfied in Jesus. All things from you, Father, and all things through you, Jesus. And in you Lord, my life holds together; all things hold together in you. And I praise you my God for you are good always.
Lord, tether our hearts to you. Let us find in you a strong and sure anchor. We worry not about the things we are unaware of, and yet you car for us in those matters. Today let us realize that we need not worry about the things that we are aware of, for just as you powerfully and lovingly care for matters that concern us but that we are unaware of, so do you rule over all matters before our eyes and in our hearts.
November 24th
Lord, the wonders of your mercy!
May it capture my heart always. You are the strong hand that grips the weak man. I am weak, prone to wander as the hymn-writer wrote.
But my eyes are on you Lord, and my hope is in your faithfulness to me. I depend upon and trust in your love. May I come to know more and more this great love for me. May I see it, and in seeing, may the truth of that love be seen in me by others and spill over into their lives.
Walk in love, you command us. Let this un-burdensome command be the banner over my life.
November 23rd
Lord Jesus, in you is life, abundant and true.
In you is fullness and from that fullness you fill us and complete us; you make us complete. Today would you tether our hearts to you in love that we might find the full joy of fellowship with you and obedience to you?
As we have received you as Lord, let us walk in you as Lord. Every fear, every worry, every detail, we lay down at your feet. Guide us, sinful as we are, in your truth. Have mercy on our failures, doubts, and fears.
And today, we proclaim you as Lord, Christ, our secure rescue and ever-present Savior. Amen.
Your love never fails.
November 22nd
Lord, direct our eyes towards you. “Be thou my vision”.
For each worrisome thought, let there be an equal, even greater thought of your grace in our lives. Rejoice! We rejoice in the proof of your grace in our experiences. We delight in it.
Train our minds that worry may not rob us of the joy you intend for us. Let your promises be our soul’s resting place, you who works all things for good and who has good planned for us – the obtaining of eternal life as our final destiny along with abundant life here.
Lord, and our Father, we are grateful! Let this gratitude overflow from our hearts to our mouths and actions to be a blessing to all.
November 21st
You embrace the unappealing, you feed and care for the constant wanderer. You hold us and you graciously draw us. You bear us up even to our graying years. You are Lord and we see you as such. I know you as him, he who is come, who is lowly, who knows me and loves me.
How deep O Lord is your love for me, how strong your grip. Hold today this world in your arms and let your creation know the expansiveness of your great love which reaches to the farthest one and receives the most destitute.
November 20th
Father, we know.
We know you have been good to us. We know you are faithful to us in our finances and in our relationships. Though the enemy would love to destroy and sift, you have kept us. We are still here, and because of you, we will stand strong to the end, blameless on that day. We know and we are witnesses.
So, we may now trust your holy word and receive it, and it will work in us. It has! Thank you, Jesus. I commit this day to you and acknowledge you in it. Great is your faithfulness.
Bless our memory to remember, our will to be willing, and our thoughts to think on you.
In Jesus name, amen.
November 19th
Lord, gift us with endurance. It comes from you and the hope you provide. May we labor in love at work, for it is you we serve, Jesus, as we work to honor your name. In all things be glorified.
Would you empower our words to bring conviction.
Tonight, grant your people rest.
Let patience guide our words and expressions.
May we sow, with care, into those around us.
May your will be done in our lives as it is in heaven, as your Son willingly submitted to you. Haste the day when you, Jesus, will be acknowledged as Lord, every knee bowed down and perfection finally come to all things. For now, bring steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth.
November 18th
Father, you care. Your hand is on us to guide and keep us through the darkest night and on the brightest day. You are the Lord of our complete salvation, the head over all things, given to us your church. All authority, glory, honor, and dominion belong to you.
And we are seated with you.
Lord Jesus, you came to destroy the works of darkness. I see darkness in distant countries and in my neighborhood. I see patterns of evil prevalent in our world today. One could become discouraged and lose hope, so strengthen us; firm up your people’s resolve to love the lost.
I pray for those who suffer under the oppression of the enemy; bind the devil’s work, remind him of his open shame and defeat at the cross.
Here am I, Lord, here am I.
November 17th
Lord, I come to you. I have nothing to bring. My hands are empty.
Like Gideon, I fear, I doubt, I struggle with low self-esteem. Yet I am yours. My future in your kingdom is not based on my ability but on your calling – and you have called me. And what you have called us to, you empower and anoint us to do.
Family, friends, marriage, work: all of these relationships require your love and your strength. Come Lord Jesus, come. By your might and the power of your Spirit living in me, I am able to witness of you. But unless you build the house, my labor is in vain.
I need you, Lord. I need you now, in every moment, every hour, through each day, every day. I need you.
November 16th
Lord, with you there is hope – hope that inspires us to endure. Through the trial we see the distant light of hope. I pray for those who are suffering by their own hand or by the hand of others. Ignite hope my Father! Inspire endurance.
For those who have suffered long, I ask that hope would be the glorious cap upon what you’re building in their lives. Let them see. For those who are now just entering into suffering, I pray they would not resist, but would welcome, with joy, the trials you allow.
Holy Spirit, let not our feelings govern and inform. No, may your good words encourage and lead. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Guard our hearts and minds with your peace.
November 15th
Lord, you raise the dead, you bring our sons and daughters back to life. You are the answer to loss, the all-powerful one with whom all things are possible. With one word you can change our visible future. And so, Lord, we submit to you our situations and circumstances great and small.
With you all things are possible.
I pray for those who are experiencing the death of relationships. Breathe life, words of life, and awaken the dead things. Your heart reaches to us in great compassion. We receive it Lord, your will and your compassion, and your power and ability which supersedes all that perplexes us.
Come Lord Jesus, come.
Come Lord Jesus, come.
November 14th
Lord, I need your Spirit to represent you accurately in deed and in speech. I fail, I confess. I need your Spirit to stand and, with grace, boldly counter the lies of this world system spoken by ungodly teachers who know you not.
You test the hearts of men, and I have seen my failure in my pleasing of others and my fear of offending. So, now I see – I need you, I need growth, I need the power of your Spirit to witness of you and who you are.
May I carry the light, the gospel, faithfully. Help me to “jump”, clinging to the truth. Grace my memory and my words with power, conviction, and the presence of your Holy Spirit. Spirit, come; here am I.
November 13th
Father, you see the heart of a father broken over his children. Grant us hope. Strengthen our faith. You are the God who is eternally kind to us in Christ Jesus. You see all things. You have not misplaced our children. May our hearts burst forth with your bursting love.
Thrill our hearts with the joy of that grace you will put on display for all eternity – your amazing grace to us. You have raised us and seated us, already. We shall experience it and the great wedding feast is coming and I shall taste at your table, from your hand, the finest wine, a wine above all wines and I will glorify you for it!
May this generation of young people forsake the paltry offerings of this decaying world and embrace your goodness. Raise up and send out, Lord, an army of truth-branded warriors whose weapon is love.
November 12th
Father, my God, thank you for your word, the Scriptures, which exhort and admonish and encourage. Thank you for the gift of your Holy Spirit. Let not his fire be put out in my life. Where there is smoldering, fan into flames. Guide and direct us Lord.
Every anxious thought we place in your care – our comfort and refuge. Keep me from actions motivated by fear and insecurity. May all I do be done with consideration, not reaction, under your guidance and in your peace.
Lord, would you awaken those who are asleep in this current darkness – those who do not know you and are not in you? Breath of Life, you love all. Call forth the dead and raise them to new life – only a work of your Spirit – with power and conviction. Grant the gift of turning Lord.
November 11th
Voice of God, Breath of Heaven, Living Word, the Great Communication, Jesus, speak to us. Speak life, speak truth. In the midst of dark voices, you in us is greater. You silence the hiss of the lying serpent. We are overcomers; you are the living God.
You are with us, you are for us, you are on our side.
Father, I pray for those who are suffering emotionally, whether by the stresses and losses of life, or mental illness. See them, Lord; bring relief and rescue. Let us encourage the weak and faint-hearted.
Would you bring hope to the discouraged, courage to the fearful, and deliverance to the persecuted. Send your laborers and protect them as a shield. Here we are, Lord. Let us be about your business. Always.
November 10th
Father, would you place in our lives models of godliness that we may model, and may our model be one worthy of the witness of you. Models model models, so let us be wise in our choice of company.
Lord, with power, conviction, and the Holy Spirit, let our lives shine bright as stars placed against a dark background. With the heavens, may our speech declare the glory of God and kindness of the Father found in Christ Jesus. We look to you, lifter of our heads.
You bring your purpose to our lives, may we not shun or resist it in whatever form you, in your wisdom, choose it to take. Uphold us with a willing spirit and hunger for you and your truth.
November 9th
Father, as your children may we be prompted by love. May the life of you in us be light – a stark contrast to the earthly darkness of a world without your life. May your love control, compel, and constrain us. May our fruitful laboring come out of sincere love. Abundantly bless this provision of your love in our lives. Today.
I pray for open ears to hear the needs of those around me, opportunity to speak, and boldness that carries your gracious words of life and truth. Grace upon grace, you answering every prayer spoken in you.
You have called us as lights in this darkness; let it be Lord!
November 8th
Holy Spirit, come. As fresh wind, as refreshing water, as fire. Would you come and wash over us and ignite our hearts with passion for you? Remind us of the words of Jesus – his words to find rest and live in faith.
We need you Lord, we confess. Open our eyes; steady our hearts. Give us faith that sees and understands. May our lives point others to you and inspire them into service.
Let our hearts be completely yours, consistently. May I know the joy of your nearness and walk in step with your Spirit. Remove guilt and may I fully enjoy that which you grant to enjoy – friends, family, food, simple pleasures. Tether this heart to the wonder of you.
November 7th
We are formed in weakness yet filled with treasure. By your design Lord, and to your glory, we suffer in these frames of dust and prove that you alone are our salvation; you alone are the victor and bringer of victory.
So be praised today and fill our hearts with the hope that comes from knowing you are with us in our strength and weakness, in our victory and defeat. Through it all, through it all, may we trust your perfect plan Jesus.
Lord, for the weak I pray today – for those who suffer and see no way out, who have no hope or are despairing, lacking understanding and sight to see your hand bringing victory and guiding and keeping. Today, comfort the downtrodden and despairing. Bring the light that brings hope to the soul.
November 6th
Jesus, our first love, let us live out of you and live for you, enjoying, loving, and resting in you. Return us to our first love, Living Water, Spring of Life Evermore. Our souls truly thirst for you – let us not find drink anywhere else but in you. Tame our wild and wandering hearts. We confess, we need you desperately.
Come Lord Jesus, come.
Your presence is our delight Lord, your favor our desire. Near to you, we feel the warmth of the fire of your love. Here we are, no place else we’d rather be.
Fan into flame the smoldering wick, heal the broken and bent lives. Gentle and Lowly One, we come to you, our wisdom, our teacher, our supply.
November 5th
Here I am Lord. “Come”, you said, so I come, with heart of gratitude, a posture of humility and trust, casting all my cares upon you. You see it all, every dark chamber, every stained-glass lighted room, and your love for me is not swayed, your favor never put on hold.
You are a stream; you are life to my soul and so I come and I wait. Draw near! You have invited. Open! You have called. Welcome into this place.
And so, your eternal desire is met, begun here on earth, as you dwell by your Spirit in me, in your holy people, your church. And we desire the same, that you would be our God and we your people.
Let not the worries and cares of this world draw us away from you. Now I draw near to you, my Savior and my God.
November 4th
Lord, let not our hearts become stagnant. May we thirst for living water, the flowing streams of your life. May we find satisfaction there and not be drawn away by the insidious pull of the patterns and pleasures of this world. This is not our home.
Delight yourself in the Lord, you have said, and you will give us the desires of our hearts.
As we approach this day, its tasks and duties, we acknowledge you; it is the Lord Christ we are serving. Let our eyes look to you always our Master, conductor of our steps, and may we live a life pleasing to you, in alignment with your calling.
Would you strengthen your people, Father. Strengthen us with joy and rest and peace of heart and mind.
November 3rd
All things, you work all things for good for your called ones and you have called me. Let me rise in confidence and stoutness of heart, Lord, and be a light in this darkness. Light dispels darkness, darkness does not dispel light.
Grant power to your people, Father, that we may witness of you in word and power. Your life is the light of men; may we bring that abundant life to this darkened world.
I pray for the weak, the sick, those who are suffering with maladies. Would you heal, Lord? Would you give us, as your people, a connection and opportunity to reach those who need our touch – the touch of you through us?
November 2nd
From the depths of sin and despair I call out to you and my heart has hope. You lift my heart to hope, Lord. You come quickly; you come faithfully. You have forgiven us of all our sins, you, our Father, above all, rich in mercy and overflowing grace.
I will yet praise you! And I praise you now. I confess my desperation and look to your love, your love that comes to us. May my tongue exalt you Lord Jesus, my king. In my speech may I put you in the proper place.
You have not held your mercy back Lord, and I rejoice in this. When my heart fails, your love makes it stout and strong. I am yours, Lord, and I will praise you forevermore.
November 1st
Let our lips declare your truth – your promises given to us in your word and by your Spirit who speaks to us. May our hearts rise, Lord, as you speak your words to us. It is not vain, it is not wasted breath, but your powerful word which accomplishes your purpose. Praise be to God the Father!
You are the God who gives and who takes away, but may your praise always be on my lips – a witness to those around me of your faithfulness.
Even so, in my weaknesses and great failings, I remain yours. Bring strength and courage Lord. Heal us of our spiritual amnesia and constant mind-wandering. Tether us to your heart – your heart filled with passionate and fiery love for us.
