July 31st
Lord, when we pray, we carry the burdens of others to you. We do not hold the cares of the world on our shoulders, we commit our brothers and sisters to you. Let not the confessions of my brothers weigh me down, rather I pray they would motivate me to come to you to petition for them.
And so, I pray. I pray for my friends, I pray for those who do not know you, who have built ideas of who you are into safe idols. I pray for those who must counsel, those who must make decisions. You have promised wisdom.
For the burdened, broken-hearted, and sick – you know them each by name – for these I pray, asking for the healing nearness of you. Father, so much brokenness, so much need. You, Jesus, are the answer for this hurting world.
July 30th
Jesus, you bring justice, you rescue the poor and afflicted, you gather the outcast and foreigner, you heal the broken. You are near to the lowly. Teach us your ways, Lord; let us walk in the pathway of your abundant heart. You bring life, let us minister life. You are kind, let us treat others with kindness. You are fiery truth, let us bring the truth in love.
I am grateful that I am the righteousness of God in Christ, for I shall stand in the judgment. Thank you, Lord, for doing that!
Lead us in your ways, Lord, and may our hearts be ever desirous of you. Remove from us the soggy weightiness of this world’s seduction. May we cast off the old and put on the new for in you we are made new creations, being renewed day by day. By your Spirit Lord, build your house.
July 29th
Jesus, my righteous King, I exalt you the cornerstone, the capstone, my captain, pioneer, and source. I praise you, Lord. You work in ways beyond me and I am glad that you are the Sovereign and not me! You, ruler of all created order.
Lord, I am sorry for the times I have not aligned with your perfect plan and pleasing will; I am sorry for the times I have hurt your heart, if I have. I know you love me with a great, unswaying love, tailored just for me, your child, your loved son.
Holy Spirit, I pray for strength, for it is not by might or power, but by you, Holy Spirit. “Grace, grace!” Jesus, our great headstone, build your church. In each part and with all parts together. I have so much more to say, think of, and pray, but for now, overflowing with gratitude, I love you, Lord!
July 28th
Jesus, still this soul with confidence: confidence in your word, your promises, you. You are my rock, an anchor to the sometimes – to the often – stormy sea of emotion that brings gale winds and affronts my soul. Jesus, you still the waves.
Your promises are worked out in my life through the purification process. In your faithfulness you afflict me. There are those who have a muted understanding of this glorious truth – even those who oppose it in their ignorance. Let me not look to them or be moved by their words.
Let confidence in you arise in this heart. Keep me from looking to man for approval or affirmation. Who is man that I should trust in him? But let my full trust be always in you, my helper, and let my heart be steadfast.
July 27th
Jesus, you are over all things, placed in headship over every rule and authority, for us, your church. Do battle Jesus against the lies that knock at the doors of your Church. Keep us, your people, from the deceitfulness of sin and the lying tongue. Keep us from what seems right to us and lead us into the truth – that which seems right to us and the Holy Spirit.
Fill us, as husbands, with the same love and care that you have for your body. May all that we do be for the benefit of our wives: to build them up and say the hard things – only in a spirit of love. Make us easy to be respected because of the great care we have for our wives. It is for our own good, Lord, that we love our wives well! And for the glory of you in the mystery of you, the Christ, and the Church.
July 26th
Lord Jesus, you reign supreme over all things. Your kingdom come. May we cause your name to be well spoken of today.
Be still my soul and know that he is God. Lord, you part the seas, you still the waves, you do all things well. When my heart goes astray – being led by anxiety – you remind me: I am yours, in your care, my name etched forever in the palm of your powerful hand, all things working together for good.
I praise you with all my heart as you open my eyes and reassure my heart of your goodness. You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. Amen.
July 25th
You, Lord, shake the mountains; you move mighty waters and even still them; you gather the children. Miracle of miracles. Did you show your mighty deeds to your people Israel? Yes, you did. Will you do it again? Yes, you will, and yes you do. You are Lord, God, Almighty, Great Redeemer of my soul.
Father, in these times let not our souls be wasting away, but let us be alive, full of life, in your Spirit. Holy Spirit, Wonderful Counselor, Spirit of Comfort and Joy, Spirit of Jesus, come. Come abide with us. Come fill us. Be praised, Spirit of the Living God.
You spoke through the prophets; you strengthened the hands of David. Come now and strengthen your people for greater things and greater glory to you.
July 24th
You are God, and you are able; you are my God, and you are willing. You hear my prayer; you move mountains and purify my heart. Faithful are your wounds, my friend, my great and almighty companion.
Who but a God like you would send your Spirit into the hearts of men? Who but you, would send a King, your Son, to die for us, to identify with us, to take our sins, to become the Lord, our righteousness?
With you all things are possible and I praise you!
July 23rd
Lord, you know our frame, that it is but dust. Our hearts’ resolve is weak at best. We flutter, we stumble, we fall short. Yet we desire you and want to know your ways. Father, we seek your face in the midst of it all. We are children who sin, saved by grace.
Father, we thank you for you are hearing our prayers. Would you help us to walk in step with your Spirit? Forgive us for not doing that – we confess that we have failed at times. But you are full of mercy and you preserve our lives according to your own faithfulness and love.
How my heart yearns to be a model of who you are to those around me. Help Lord! Save! Deliver! I ask to be more like you in heart, word, and action.
July 22nd
Lord, would you strengthen your people? Keep us from discouragement that we may continue to pray, continue to do, continue to approach you, and continue to wait.
You, our loving Father, discipline us for our good. May we not fight that. Give us hearts that bow to the training you bring, and willing and obedient spirits.
Thank you for your hand upon us to keep us and guide us.
This day we commit into your hands.
July 21st
Lord, we labor, we do, we wait, we walk. May you be the center of it all. May your kingdom come and be the place where our minds are set; may your coming kingdom be our joy. Lord Jesus, be our desire and may we long for your appearing. Detach us from inappropriate ties to this world.
Father, would you keep us from weariness and discouragement? Holy Spirit, would you bring us joy? Fill us with your joy, the fruit of love.
It is a miracle from you that we are kept. We hold on, but you hold on tighter and always. The joy of the Lord is my strength! Lord, would you today give your joy to your people? Amen.
July 20th
You hold all things in your hands, Father. Jesus, all things have their holding together and consistent existence in you. There is no plight unseen by you, no way hidden from your eyes. I can’t fully grasp such truth as this, but it all comes from you.
And so, you are great my God. And so, I see my complacency and lukewarmness in the midst of one so great. Father, I confess to you my fault, my lack in the midst of your sufficiency. Who am I to stand before you, but one saved by your Son, always and only justified because of him. Thank you.
And so, I lay down the measuring stick and trust fully in One, the One who is my righteousness, Jesus, Christ, Lord, Son of David, my dear Savior.
July 19th
Father, you are the lifter of my head. I consider all your goodness towards me and I praise you. All this I have because of Jesus; in him all your promises are yes and amen!
I consider your faithful, tender mercies which rise each morning anew like the sun. They are present with me throughout the day. Lord, help us to keep our eyes on you.
I hope in you, in the midst of darkness, for I shall yet praise you. And even now I say, “You are good!”
Deliver your people, Lord, from deceitful lips and lying tongues. Give us boldness and strength to shine as a light in this dark world. Build your church!
July 18th
Lord, you are the strength of my soul when I am in darkness, when I am weary.
You are the lifter of my head. I look to you, the fulfillment of all that is good and right. You, our captain, have walked through it. Thank you. And now, I reach out my trembling hand in faith and cling to you.
Give me boldness, give me strength, give me love and give me peace. I look to you, as your creatures do, to be fed by you, Provider.
Our thirst is a spiritual thirst, a panting after your presence. Our hunger is a hunger for you, the bread of life. And so, I hunger and thirst for you and ask that you would keep me from the paltry offerings of this world and draw me to satisfaction in you.
July 17th
Lord, your word endures forever. It is firmly established in its everlasting home – you have placed it along with your name above all things. I praise you for your word – the gift of the Scriptures that you have given us.
May its truth supersede my feelings, my opinions, my thoughts, and my passions. We have your Word, the Bible, as a sword to fight the lies, as a tool to build your house. And thank you for your Spirit, Jesus, to remind us of your truth and to strengthen us and give us grace to walk in your ways.
Oh, this is a work of you, Father, Son, Holy Spirit. And now, I praise you Lord most high for your gracious enabling to humbly walk in your word.
July 16th
Jesus, thank you! You care for us: your righteous priests, your joyful, singing saints. You nurture us with your word. We are your dwelling place as you promised to David. You will build your church.
Lord, would you build your church in our day, a healthy and strong body that brings your kingdom to this world? Revive us again, Lord, in our country, in Europe, across the nations. Abundantly bless your provision to us. Restore our fortunes. Bring miracles back with power in your name. Let us be a true light, a powerful impact.
Peace and grace to your people, Lord Jesus, the people you have abundantly redeemed and purchased with your own blood. And Father, would you bring others in: our neighbors, our friends, our cities and towns? Let them know and receive you and be joined to your body.
July 15th
Lord, in the daily, in the mundane, in the crushing boredom of the necessary, may I remain faithful to you, to my family, to my wife – in heart, mind, and soul – for that is who you are. It is your way and the path I must walk.
In your faithfulness you afflict me to be faithful, to become who you’ve created me to be: a man of limited perfection, yet straining to the goal of knowing you and the fulfillment of your calling. I am yours! Rescue me from the fruitless deeds of darkness.
Jesus, I look to you, the answer to all that is perfect and beautiful, the fulfillment of all that is good and eternal, put on display before mankind. You are my encouragement and provider of all that encourages my soul when it is downcast. Rejoice in Jesus, oh my soul!
July 14th
Jesus, one day you will return to establish your eternal kingdom. Until then let us be about your work, using the gifts you have given us. Our labor in you is not in vain.
Holy Spirit, would you empower us, giving us discernment and eyes to see, making the most of every opportunity? It is only with your help that we can do or accomplish anything of eternal worth.
Father, we are grateful: overflowing with thanks for your mercy and grace. So, we come boldly asking for mercy and grace, here, now, in our time of need. Our comfort is this: you are with us in our darkest hour.
July 13th
Thank you, Father, for this day launched in mercy, guided by your leading, kept in your faithfulness. Let us walk in your ways and travel your paths.
Let my words today be gracious. Give me strength for this journey and a heart filled with thanksgiving. May my heart rest in you and trust in you.
For the suffering I pray. Here I am. For those oppressed, taunted and controlled by the enemy, I pray. For those held captive by grief, regret, and self-focus, I pray. For those who are weak, poor, blind, miserable, and naked and know It, I pray. For those who don’t know it, I pray, show them! For the blind, both physically and spiritually, I pray, would you make massive change in their lives? Impact them to impact others.
Jesus, you are the Anointed One, called and able to do this; and now you call us, so let us walk as an agent of you, in paths of healing for others.
July 12th
Father of mercies I come to you, by grace I come, drawn by you. I am now a child, once a lost sinner. Now by grace I am saved.
Let our hearts come to know, to understand, to rely on, the love you have for us, Father. As children, honest and sincere, let us be before you.
Open our eyes and keep us from spiritual self-sufficiency and pride. We sin. We, your righteous ones, still sin; in our state with frames of dust, we fail. So, we acknowledge we need you.
In this we find comfort – that you are with us. Thank you, Lord!
I place this day and all its duties into your hands. Amen.
July 11th
Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days. Lord, let us have a generous spirit, one that gives without restraint – free from fear of loss and hopeful in the great return you will bring.
We present before you our time, our finances, our investment in people. Truly one of our greatest deposits is in our children, and this is indeed a lifelong commitment, so help us to give fully to that area.
Let us value what you value, understanding your ways and walking in your paths. Jesus, you loved people above all, for you came to seek and save the lost. Let our hearts beat with the same beat and keep us from idol worship.
July 10th
Father, even in our crowded days, filled with busyness, let our hearts remain on you, your words and thoughts, and the delights of your grace towards us. Fill the gaps in our doing with reminders of your continual presence. And thus, let us live in a manner pleasing to you.
I acknowledge you today! In all that I do I remember, in all my plans I consider, it is you who directs my steps, it is you I live for. So, thank you Father; through Jesus I give you thanks.
Let my words build others up today according to their needs and let my opinions and wants and selfish ambition take the back seat. Jesus, you considered others first. Let it be so with me my Captain, Source, and Path-Breaker.
Amen
July 9th
You are my guard and my deliverer. When I fall, you pick me up; when I stray, you lead me back. You are faithful and, in your faithfulness, with your hand upon me, you keep me. Be encouraged, oh my soul! The Lord your God is with you and will never leave or forsake you.
Jesus, let your name be glorified, honored, and well-spoken of among your people. Let us walk innocently and wisely, with humble attitudes and child-like hearts. We endeavor to serve you in the light of your grace and life freely given, lavished on us. Thank you! We are grateful.
Father, your will be done today. We cast our cares upon you. Let us live in this restful place always trusting you. May we shine, may we impact, may your kingdom come.
July 8th
Lord, I am weak, but you are strong. My heart betrays me, it drifts from you in pursuit of the easy path. And so, I pray, though it seems too great a task, that you would still and change this heart. I lift my eyes beyond what I see, and rest these eyes in sight of faith, upon you, my Deliverer. With God all things are possible, even the conquering of evil desire.
To whom else shall I go but to you, my Rock and Rescuer and King-Redeemer? I come boldly, feeling weak, knowing my evil tendencies, knowing my weakness. Now may I know you, growing in grace and revelation of you my faithful Savior, Jesus, my shepherd.
My Father, you are faithful and you will keep and strengthen me, you who has called me into fellowship with your Son.
July 7th
Father, would you help us to love as your Son loved, to identify with, integrate with, and enjoy the company of the lost sheep in this world? Let us love one another and this world. Let us consider the poor and feed the hungry. Make a way, provide the opportunity.
Protect and strengthen those who now do this – those laborers in the harvest who have sacrificed so much for you. Give them wisdom and send angels to protect them. And would you abundantly bless the provision for their work.
Strengthen and comfort and feed those who suffer under the weight of persecution. Lord, their faith is sufficient, keep them! And bring justice. Father, I commit and pray for these.
In your Name, eternal Father, Mighty God, Prince of Peace, Jesus.
July 6th
Lord, would you help us to rid ourselves of all bitterness and unkindness? We are in a spiritual battle, so let us put on the breastplate of righteousness – your righteousness that you have modelled for us. Your words are kind and gentle, coming from a pure heart with no bitterness.
Let us be sincere and non-judgmental, never looking down on one another, never placing each other on a pedestal. Remove “position” from us. We are all sinners saved by grace, adopted children.
Holy Spirit, would you strengthen us and remind us to walk in your ways? You have given us a new self; may we lay aside the old and put on the new creation.
In the Name of the King, Jesus.
July 5th
Father, we rest in your grace and lay down the burden of self-effort to achieve your righteousness. Indeed, you make us zealous for good works, but never let those graces and duties shadow the pure light of the glorious gospel of Jesus.
Now, would you set free the captive – those whose thinking has them bound in deceitful desires, who adhere to their feelings and brokenness. Instead, Father, set the captive free! That they may be transformed in knowledge after the image of you, our Creator.
I’m praying Father that you would exercise your great patience on this nation. Let your church arise and shine the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Lavish grace. Grant repentance. Open eyes. Revive our nation, Lord!
July 4th
Lord Jesus, you open the eyes of the blind – those who are physically blind and those who are spiritually blind. With you all things are possible, even salvation of the wealthy. You took down the walls of Jericho, you saved a harlot, and through the harlot came the lineage of Jesus, who healed the blind in that very city.
How great is your foresight and insight Father, your wisdom; your life is light and gives sight to us who are blind. Open our blind eyes to see Jesus. Let us grow in the grace and knowledge of him, our wonderful Savior.
I will praise you Lord, with all my heart and life. All I have is yours; I place it in your hands to do with as you will Father.
In the Name of the One who gives sight to the blind and opens eyes to salvation, in the name of Jesus.
July 3rd
Lord, we rely on you – in the small and in the important, in the great and in the insignificant. Guide our words, put a stop on my tongue before it speaks foolishly or hurtfully.
Forgive me of pride, the rapid swelling of my easily inflated ego. Forgive me, the one who thinks I am great. But you are great and there are many more distinguished than I, so I take my place at the low end of the table, my humble spot.
Remember that my frame is dust. You know I am prone to evil, yet you have shown me that I am a righteous man who sins. Grow me; indeed, you grow me.
Keep us Lord, and we are kept; preserve us and we endure; strengthen us and we stand.
July 2nd
Lord, your love is better than life, and in you I find true life, life that does not disappoint or harm, life that springs up eternal and keeps my weary soul watered and refreshed.
Your ways are perfect and life-giving. They set me on the path of peace. Let my mind be formed by and set on your ways. And then, Holy Spirit, would you provide me the strength to walk in those paths of blessing? Your kingdom come and your will be done and may my life honor your name.
And now today may I walk as salt and light and overflow with your life to others. May I represent you truly and honor you before others in the way I live. May I walk in your righteousness.
In Jesus name is this prayer!
July 1st
My Father, I am so moved by your goodness, your gentle, strong, loving reminders, your loving correction and confirmation, your words that speak life to a weary and damaged soul and to a broken heart. You are near!
And so, I will and do praise you, my God! In the midst of the storm. I love you Jesus. Sweet Holy Spirit of Jesus, sent in to my heart, always abiding, always refreshing, always reminding. Safeguard my mind, my heart, my spirit.
Weeping lasts for the night, but you bring joy in the morning.
Now I pray for the discouraged, the despairing, my brothers and sisters who have lost hope or are hanging on by a thread. Build a wall of fire around them to protect and restore. Remove all their shame and build their broken hearts before you, my Rescuer and Restorer, my only hope! Shepherd Jesus.
