December 31st
Lord Jesus, you are supreme!
Head over all things, king of kings, given to us, your people, your church. At your feet the demons shudder. In you all things hold together. Concept and material, idea and created objects, circumstance and person. You are Lord over all.
Let these truths settle deeply and safely in our hearts, and may they bring us constant consolation. You are our comfort - what a gift you are!
Through these fiery trials we come forth as refined gold, for all you do is out of the goodness of your heart; and we are your children. Thank you for bringing us in, and purchasing us, freeing us, by your blood. We rejoice, we delight in your amazing grace!
December 30th
Lord, I pray that you would cause the nations to hope in you. Turn the discouraged soul towards you. Satisfy the thirsty with streams of your love. Bring the hungry to feast at the table of your goodness and provision. Lord, would that you would return the lost to yourself?
Our hope is in you; let us shine with that hope in joy. Lift our downcast souls and keep us from that vile enemy of fleshly lust. Oh Lord, that we would hunger for you. Let us receive that we may give.
Lord, bring the nations to praise and honor you, the one true God. Father, save, call, glorify, and free the lost of this world.
In Jesus name, amen.
December 29th
Lord Jesus, the demons shudder before you and cry out knowing who you are and what fate awaits them. For you are head over all things, given to us, your body, the church. Greater are you in us than the liar who is in the world. What have we to fear? Nothing! For God is by our side, Emmanuel, eternal God, everlasting Father, Comforter, mighty God! We embrace the light of this truth.
Lord, keep us from fear, for fear is a liar. Our enemy speaks lies to the sons of men, but in your presence, Jesus, all lies disperse like the controlling delusions of an abusive husband. Let us walk in your authority today, and may the falsities of the defeated foe fall to the ground as the shallow and weak structures they truly are.
Be exalted oh Lord!
December 28th
Father, thank you for your Word, for the Scriptures.
You speak, you instruct, you encourage. Let us hide your word in our hearts. Holy Spirit, give us understanding and be the light in our hearts. Let our minds be engaged and not distracted. Turn on the light of understanding, Lord!
As we walk, as the day dirties our feet, as we face responsibility, challenges, and stresses, place us back to our center – your anchoring words. And let us encourage one another daily with these words. Let your word, the word of the Christ Jesus, fill our lives, dwelling as its foremost occupant. Lord, there is nothing greater than your presence, and you are our greatest treasure!
December 27th
Lord, let us not miss the moments of your appearance; keep us from being unaware of your touch. May we always be alert to your presence and moving in our lives and glorify you as Lord of all.
In the small and in the great you have appeared. There have been times we’ve been unaware, but now we acknowledge you in all our paths. Make straight our ways! Bring down our pride and lift our souls out of despair.
Your deep calls to our deep. Let us hear the sound of your voice, your nearness, and cling tightly to your daily blessings, Jesus, our life!
December 26th
Thank you, Lord, for new beginnings – adventures given at your hand along with those we love. How favored we are! Your mercy follows us all our days. While we enjoy these earthly blessings, let us remember where they come from and where we are being led. Let our hearts always be captured by the scent of heaven and the hope of your eternal embrace.
Capture our hearts Jesus! You are good, always and forever. You sustain us with your love; your faithfulness endures forever.
Help us to enjoy, yet hold on loosely; to embrace, but never be held captive. While this home is wonderful, may our hearts look forward to our true home.
December 25th
Lord Jesus, today there are many who in some form or another celebrate the birth of you, the Christ, Emmanuel, God with us. In our celebrating would you help us to remember and reflect upon the truth that the feet of God walked here on dusty paths? Heaven touched earth and left the mark of true love.
May our love grow sincere, abounding by your Spirit. May our struggle be not for what is ours but may it be for others to know encouragement of heart and unity in love. Love came as a baby and that baby grew to show us what true love is. You loved, so you gave to bring us to yourself.
May this good news continue for this month and for all of this coming new year.
December 24th
Lord, to you do I lift up my soul; tether my heart to you. The morning fog can cloud and dismay, but your mercy and grace are lights that break through all confusion. How wonderful you are.
Jesus, let us be filled with your word; may it dwell richly in us, always being remembered, always guiding, always bringing hope to each and every circumstance, with all instruction in wisdom. Teach us, humble Jesus. We take your yoke on us to learn from you and to find true rest. You are our rest.
What a hopefully expectant day we have before us as we walk as the children of God we are. Behold how great a love our Father has given!
December 23rd
My Father, with you all things are possible.
With the hordes of Pharaoh at Israel’s back and the impassible sea in front of them, you did what was impossible for man, but a simple task for you. You saved through the water.
You save beyond our comprehension of who is save-able. Our impossible trials are small in power compared to the greatness of your might and wisdom. Lord, how high are your thoughts and how great is your love for us.
You make the foolish wise and the weak great. Nothing is beyond you. You call what is not into being and demolish what is. Even the darkness is light to you. All things are possible with you.
December 22nd
Lord Jesus, may my life be congruous with my faith. May what I hear in the whisperings of the secret place be proclaimed on the rooftops. Christ is Lord and God is with us!
I am an overcomer through Jesus, for greater is he that is in me than the liar who lives in this present age. Whether high or low, I can do all and be satisfied through all in you Jesus.
Lord, all things have been given to you by the Father and I am your brother, an unworthy servant, yet a cherished child and dear friend. You have shown, you have revealed. Release this tongue to freely speak in every opportunity; salted with grace, let your word be known through this fragile vessel for your glory and man’s good.
December 21st
Father, your word is a treasure and we humbly receive it; help us, by your glorious might and powerful strength, to walk according to it. Let your light fill every darkened room. Let your truth be our guide, our life, our view, and what we adhere to.
May our minds be found thinking on your word at all times – in the early hours, in the morning, during the day, and in the evening. Holy Spirit, gracious Spirit, in your mercy would you remind us of the precious word we read? May it earn more than a glance from us; may it be imbibed deeply and slowly, with great softness of heart and soaring faith. May it be bread to us.
Amen.
December 20th
Lord, may your worth be always before us and may our unworthiness be known to us. As men have said, we are not worthy. May this also be settled in our hearts, not as a weight to drown us, but as an anchor to stabilize and secure us in the midst of our storms of pride.
May we always remember, you are our exalted friend, Worthy Lord, King of Creation. We are grateful that you took notice of us, and even though high and lofty, you, the Worthy One, came down to us. We did not rise to you, but you chose to dwell with the lowly.
How great you are my God!
December 19th
My Father, my God, today I have no gift to bring, but only a needy heart. I can only lift up the cup of your salvation and give you thanks. I am weary in body and in soul, but my soul relies on you and I wait for your great love. You are faithful.
Thank you that strength comes from you through the gift of humility. You are my strength; you are my shield; you are my salvation; and I rejoice in you in hope. So, I wait.
Forgive, wash, renew. Jesus, caretaker and lover of my soul, the one who never casts out, never reviles, but overwhelms with kindness and compassion. My eyes are on you as I wait for and hope in you alone!
December 18th
Lord, we wait for your promises personal and written in scripture. All good things come from you. Let us be strengthened, encouraged, and comforted as we receive your promises. Let us wait and hold on to all that you have spoken. Let us, like Simeon, be God-receivers.
Soften any jadedness in our hearts. Let your light enter and fill all the darkened rooms of our hearts; we invite you in without restriction.
Father, would you, by your Spirit, comfort your people? May the truths and blessings of this season teach us to expect, hope, and wait, knowing that you have been faithful to your promises and will continue to be.
Amen.
December 17th
Holy Spirit, Spirit of Jesus, Spirit of the Living God, would you restore to your weary saints the joy of your salvation? The enemy, during these times, would wear down our souls with heavy burdens not ours to carry. Refresh us, Lord! You have released us; help us to remember and embrace that redemption.
Lord, call us to yourself and even give us strength to find our rest in you. Our hearts are restless and unsettled otherwise.
So, here we are, before your great and glorious throne of grace and mercy. We receive from your heart all that we need.
Amen.
December 16th
Lord, would you let my hand be your hand, my feet, your feet, to bring good news of great joy to every soul around me? Let hope be the beacon I carry and abundant life the fragrance of my life.
Nothing can stop your sovereign plan; make me a vessel of honor. Lord, I love you, your works, your heart. They bring joy to my soul. May my smile bring joy to others as I shine you in word and deed.
Tender-hearted and full of mercy, are you Lord. And I praise you. These footsteps are in your path, guided by you. How amazing is your heart to us, your children, the redeemed sons of men.
December 15th
You are the God of sovereign mercy.
In your goodness, out of your wondrous, beautiful heart, you have prepared plans that shine like the stars in the dark sky. Your mercy looks forward out of those plans to the kindness shown to all, for you are good to all and your compassion rests on your creation.
Who can know your ways! Who can see and understand your plans? Yet you show us your heart and reveal to us your goodness for you are good!
Lord, let us rest knowing your plans for us are good. Make us vessels of your sovereign mercy; may we carry out your justice, your righteousness, and your steadfast love. May we walk humbly with you, Jesus, our humble God, Lord, and Savior.
December 14th
Lord, you are living water – cool refreshment to our parched souls. You bring us good news from a distant land. Angels we have heard on high.
This good news is of great joy; it brings us strength. Let us drink deeply and daily and be reminded that Greatness took on humility and Divinity robed himself in flesh for our sake, for his joy, to be able to say, “I am with you”.
Our hearts turn to you; our eyes look to you. We gaze at your hand as a servant waits attentively on his master. All we have needed, your hand has provided. Let us walk in the fullness of you and treasure you as the treasure you truly are.
December 13th
Lord, would you send the remedy of your healing balm, the kindness of heart, to the smoldering wick, the bent reed? May we be refreshed and restored. Restore our souls!
We are poor, miserable, wretched, often and at times. We need the refining, the salve, your tender presence.
You are not harsh with us, but rather full of compassion towards our wanderings. Lift us to your heights, to know our position in you and to live humbly out of that.
Thank you for the mountaintops where we soar and for the valleys where we know the depths of your nearness.
December 12th
Lord, remove from me a frugal, careful and cautious mind and replace my thinking with lavishness and abundance. Pour in that I may pour out and be refreshed by my refreshing of others. I cannot give what I have not received from you, and what I have not received from you is limited in worth.
Let not my concern hold me back from living freely. Let not the stale, old mindsets keep me from moving forward in you. I am grateful for who you are – the God of unlimited resources, wise, full of grace and always lavishing on us. Let me be like you, my Father.
December 11th
With you, Lord, all things are possible – from salvation to the fulfillment of your plans, and to anything else; in your name, according to your will, you make all things happen. You led the founding of this country through impossible odds; you led your people through water and desert. You have led me through weakness and joy. I am grateful!
Lord, light of the world, would you continue to lead us and would you put our hearts to rest in your great love and supreme providence? Take my hand, precious Lord! I love and trust you,
Your quieted child.
December 10th
Lord, my flesh is weak; and you invite me to come, to pray. So, I come. Where else shall I go? My spirit is willing but my flesh has been so loud. It pulls, it distracts, it vies for attention. Help me to be still in you, my refuge and shield.
Your grace is amazing. It weathers the storm. Your anchor holds beyond the veil. Take me to the Rock that is higher than I. Great is your faithfulness; I wait on your new morning mercies.
Pour out your heart before your God, for he is full of goodness and glory. He is compassionate and full of mercy and steadfast love. Lord, you know my frame. It is a frame of dust. So here I am. Have mercy on me, my God and my Father.
December 9th
Lord, would you grant us great strength and patience as we wait for you and the deliverance of all your promises? We wait on you in hopeful expectation of the realization of what you have promised.
Help us to hold on to hope and to find constant encouragement in your word and through your people. Holy Spirit, would you remind us and prepare us? We wait on you.
And as we wait, may we walk. May we be about your business, overflowing with the joy that comes from the word of truth, the gospel. Let our hearts be strengthened by grace and joy. We depend upon you, Jesus, our only hope.
December 8th
My Father, your mercies are new every morning. How great is your faithfulness! As one of your dear sons – a brother of mine – has said, “Our sins are many, but his mercies are more. Our sins are great, but his righteousness is greater; we are weak, but he is power.” (John Newton)
We will never travel beyond the gates of your mercy, for they are far beyond the limits that we know.
I come to you knowing your heart is not to cast me out, but rather to draw me in. Draw us away from temptation, draw us to yourself. Let us be so close as to hear your heartbeat; and keep us safe in your loving embrace.
Amen.
December 7th
Lord, all you speak will come forth.
You are faithful to your word. We hope in your unfailing love. With you is great redemption, great rescue. Why should our hearts be troubled when we have one as great as you by our side. You hold all authority and power and are over all authority and power. Our times are in your hands.
You are the God of all hope and we trust in you. Fill us Lord with joy, peace, and hope; we wait for the power of your Spirit. Thank you, Lord, for you are kind and you are good to us.
December 6th
Glorious, you are glorious Lord. Today we praise you and take our focus off of us.
Lord, what a precious, revealed, sovereign plan you have unfolded in the history of mankind – your history, your plan. Oh, the depths of your wisdom and oh, the good works that emanate from your kind heart.
For you practice steadfast love, righteousness, and justice; for this is who you are. Let us today reflect you, our Father, in all our ways and doings and honor and glorify you by accurately putting you on display in our lives.
December 5th
Lord, you are near to us – nearer than we may think or feel, closer than a brother, faithful as a friend. Our enemy would try to distract and disarm, but he is a liar. His lies fall in the light of you, the one we truly trust and believe in.
Father of mercies, keep us from all fear and ensuing folly. You are our refuge and our hearts turn now to you, our guide.
Thank you for your good Spirit – Comforter, Leader, Truth-Speaker. We rest now in your arms, your faithful care and tender embrace.
Amen.
December 4th
I came to you because you drew me. I stay with you because you keep me. I am yours, Lord. Let my heart pulse with that truth – that I am forever yours. No one will snatch me out of your righteous right hand. Thank you, Lord! Your mercy amazes me and your grace is amazing.
You are working all things together for good and I welcome these friends you bring my way, whether trial or triumph. It is all in your hands and you are holding all things together.
Son of God, how you love us! No one, no thing, will ever be able to separate us from that strong, amazing, and powerful love.
Amen!
December 3rd
Lord, may my words inspire and may they be inspired by your words – words salted with grace, formed out of a habit of godly, grace-filled living. May what I hear in the quiet be proclaimed on the rooftops, to both the insider and the outsider.
You have given us all that we need to live godly in you. May we partake and imbibe deeply of your divine nature, according to your great and precious promises. May we grow and remember who you have made us to be.
And may we embrace with hope, the promised rich welcome, the great entrance, into your eternal kingdom.
December 2nd
Father, would you open our eyes daily, to see who you truly are; to understand the rich and lavish flow of your grace towards us? And may we, being enlightened, treat others in kind.
Where you forgive without limit or strings attached, may we forgive in like - seventy times seven daily. Where you replace harshness for loving embrace and a welcoming smile, may we do the same to our offender.
Soften these jaded hearts and remind us, Lord, that you are a gracious and forgiving God full of mercy and compassion. May we see it and do the same! Let us not be frugal in our love, but fill us with your Spirit that we may overflow with all the blessing you have given us, underserving, to others. In Jesus name, Amen.
December 1st
Oh Lord, how my heart tends to fighting the truth that your mercy and grace could be so unlimited, so unrestrained towards me. Yet I know it to be true. How I have seen the wonder of your undying love rolling over me, wave after wave, until my heart softens and becomes unjaded.
Help my unbelief! Heal this gun-shy, worry-prone, anxious heart! I will declare and sing of your great faithful love. Your mercies never end; they cannot be extinguished.
How my heart longs to connect with you in a deeper way, to be plunged into the depths and all-enveloping embrace of your heart.
I love you, Lord. How great is your love for me.
